Using the Atla Religion Database: Scriptures Search

Use this guide to discover the many ways that the Atla database can help you find and save resources!

Search by Scripture

A distinguishing feature of the Atla Database is its Scriptures search. A Biblical scripture can be searched either by a:

  1. Hierarchical "Drill-Down" method that allows you to expand or select a chapter or verse in canonical order.
  2. Scripture Citation method that follows the Revised Standard Version (RSV) of Biblical citation.

TIP

Read the Scripture Citation field

  • The scripture you are searching for may fall within the given range the article covers, but is not cited directly. Be sure to note which chapters and verses are cited in the Scripture Citation field.
