Student Proofreaders

The Student Proofreaders offer free proofreading to any current Garrett-Evangelical student for required coursework and degree-work (theses, dissertations, mid-point reflections, etc.). They can assist with punctuation, word choices, spelling, basic sentence structure, and citations.


The Writing Place

Northwestern University's online writing center. While Garrett students are not eligible to book consultations through NU's Writing Place, this online resource has loads of helpful information about best writing practices, writing for specific fields and exercises to hone your skills.

UNC Writing Center Handouts

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's online writing help center. Take a look through a variety of well-crafted handouts on the writing process as well as videos on more complicated writing concepts, like the passive voice. Of particular note is the section of materials for English Language Learners
