Introducing Human Subjects Review: Home

This guide contains policies, procedures, forms, and other helpful resources for human subjects research review at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Welcome!

Anyone performing research on human subjects must identify threats to the rights or wellbeing of persons or groups of persons who participate in that research. The Researcher must then establish appropriate research protocols to protect participants from this potential harm. To guide Researchers in identifying these threats and establishing the necessary protocols, they are required to receive authorization for their research from the Human Subjects Committee. Contact the Committee Chair, Dr. Mark Teasdale, at mark.teasdale@garrett.edu with questions.

Use this guide as a tool for preparing and writing your human subjects research proposal. The guide contains all of the documents that you will need to understand and complete this important part of your research. In addition, there are other resources within the library and online that you may find helpful for further exploring this process and all that it entails.
