Using Ministry Matters: Curricula

This guide is meant to be a helpful resource for navigating Ministry Matters and its libraries.

This pages contains information about the curricula that is available through Ministry Matters. There are a variety of options for current curricula. In addition, there are some print curricula in the library annex and throughout the regular collection. More information about finding these is below.

Research Library

Both the Research Library and the Legacy Library contain curricula. More of the curricula can be found in the Research Library though. To find it, you will need to look within multiple tabs. To discover how to do this, follow the instructions below.

Ministry Matters is discoverable through USearch and is listed among the religion databases. Once you log in with your NetID, your browser will open to homepage. To navigate to the Research Library, select the link at the top of your page.

Accessing the Research Library

 

Once you have selected this link, the Research Library will open. The main tabs should appear, with plus signs to the left of each one. To view the items that are within these tabs, simply click the plus sign or the title.

The tab will then expand to reveal the available items. Expand the Biblical Studies, Christian Education, Christian Life, Christian Ministry, and General sections to discover many curricula options.

Finding Curricula in the Library

The Styberg Library also has a large collection of curricula, both current and past, that may be of interest. Follow the instructions and tips below to discover how to find these.
There are options throughout the library.

  • Search in Current Periodicals. Located in the Reading/Methodist Room.
  • Search on Key Shelves (BS600, BV 1530-1550, BY 3742). Look in the Regular & Oversize Sections.
  • Search in RECL (Religious Education Curriculum Library). Located in the Annex

You can also search the library catalog.

  • Start out broad by just searching for curricul*.
  • Add additional keywords like children, youth, young adult, adult, Bible, etc.
  • Search the title of a known curriculum and link to others; use the Virtual Browse feature at the bottom of every item record.
  • Use the links within item records or use the limiters (on the left). Subjects are often a good way to narrow curricula.
  • Look nearby if you locate a curriculum on the shelf; there will likely be others closeby.

Legacy Library

To access the Legacy Library, first select the Research Library tab at the top of the homepage. One the page loads, select the Legacy Library link.

 

Once the Legacy Library loads, select the Browse tab. Resources are organized into various subjects. To view their contents, click the plus signs or titles. Most of the curricula can be found Teaching Resources section.

 

To view an item, click on its title. It will then open in a new viewing window. To navigate within the resource, you will have to use the Table of Contents on the right. Click on the folder icons to expand their contents.Click on section/chapter titles to open those sections.

Tip & Tools

To see how to search within an item or how to add an item to a bin, see the Tools & Options box on the Legacy Library tab. 

To print items in the Legacy Library, right click within the viewing window. You can then print physical copies or save them as PDFs.

To print items in the Research Library, see the instructions in the Research Library tab. Hint: You will want to click on the Menu option in the top right while viewing an item. You can also either print physical copies or save them as PDFs.
