PhD Research & Writing Guide: Introducing Guide

This guide provides a library research and writing guide for PhD degree students at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary prepares teachers and scholars for seminaries, church-related colleges, universities, ecumenical agencies, and local congregations. While the program is centered at Garrett, it draws on faculty resources at Northwestern University; the Association of Chicago Theological Schools, which includes four seminaries with PhD programs; and other approved universities. PhD students may specialize in one of six concentrations -- Biblical Studies; Christian Education and Congregational Studies; History of Christianity and Historical Theology; Liturgical Studies; Pastoral Theology, Personality, and Culture; and Theological and Ethical Studies -- with an optional focus on African American/Black Religious Studies available in any concentration.
