USearch, our online library catalog, is a good place to start your research. It allows you to access most library resources all at one time from a central location. You can use the general search when you're getting started and want to see what resources are available on your topic; when you need to learn more about a topic so you can narrow it down; or when your topic isn't limited to one field and crosses several disciplines. You will also use the general search when you already have in mind a specific author, book, or journal article you want to locate.
The library gives you access to thousands of eBooks from a variety of sources. You can enjoy convenient online access to support your academic and research requirements, accessible on and off campus. You can also access All eBooks with your NetID and password; Styberg Library eBooks with your Garrett email and password. Most course textbooks are now available in electronic form, and you can find them by using the general search (Course Reserve tab) on the main page or through a search of the e-book collections. For more detailed information, refer to the online guides below.
While a general library search gives you access to materials in the Styberg and NU libraries, the database collection gives you access to a broader range of published materials beyond the library holdings These are subject-specific databases that compile information related to a particular subject or discipline, high-quality resources that come from experts in a particular field. Through the databases, you can search through many academic journals at once and find up-to-date scholarly information on a topic. Start with "Religion & Theology Databases."
You can use encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference books when you need to find specific facts, historical data, and background information related to your research topic.
